BLAB BLOG 3/24/05 A True Community

Yarmouth, ME

Something I forgot to metion the other day about the Massachusetts Striped Bass Association Expo....

On Saturday morning our booth was full of people. Among this crowd were a few current owners, a customer at the show to take delivery of his new boat, a couple at the show to put a deposit on their new boat, as well as prospective customers. Why am I mentioning this?

It was a true community. There was a group of people speaking intelligently and knowledgeably about Plate Alloy boats. We observed this group of people discussing their boats, discussing their options, discussing their fishing and all finding that they are like minded individuals. The people who buy these boats are serious, hard-core, and knowledgeable - they are a community!

It's taken years for this critical mass to form...from being one voice in the wilderness...the only Plate Alloy Boat at the Miami Show 1998...the only Plate Alloy Boat at the New York Boat Show 1999...explaining that "No, these boats are not stainless steel." and "No, these boats will not disintegrate if put in saltwater" over and over again.

I can't tell you how proud and honored I was of our customers and the community they are forming.

I just thought that was pretty cool.
